Entrepreneurship Vs 9 to 5

For the entirety of my life I was on track to get a degree, pick a competitive field that I could dominate and make a bunch of money. Although this was the plan. I left school with a TON of debt, and when I received my bachelors degree and landed my first career job back in 2017 my starting salary was $37,000. Yeah I know, you cant even imagine right? Anyone that lives in any major city would know that isn't enough money to survive. I however, was content at the time, believing I was on track to do what i desired.

After quickly experiencing burn-out, from a lack of pay, an influx of responsibilities out of my job description and little to no free time. I jumped into a masters program that put me even further in debt. I committed to a three years masters program and graduated from a private college. Sounds even more expensive right? AND BOOM! Corona hit and changed the narrative for me. 

As I sat in my living room in front of my television, it dawned on me I spent 3 years of my life and $90,000 to graduate virtually. I didn't know at that moment my biggest breakthrough was about to happen. I didn't realize that it took me all of that experience to lead me to the very moment of birthing Shea'Bae. But it did! I began spending endless hours, researching what it took to start an e-commerce based business. With the help of my father (friends, family, partner) I was able to birth something that I knew I truly DESIRED!

There is so much more to share about this journey, and to be honest I am still at the very beginning of cultivating what I envision Shea'Bae to be; but I am confident that this is my belonging. This belongs to me and the investment made wont only bring me money, but freedom. AND that is what the difference is for me when considering a traditional 9 to 5 versus entrepreneurship. 

Currently, I work full time as a school psychologist in a school I love (thanks to meeting some great people). However, I usually have little to no time to do some of the many things that would fuel me and my business. I am constantly trying to find a balance between the two. On top of making sure that I am consistently showing up, blocking false thoughts that no-one is watching when I KNOW there are far so many people supporting. The one thing that has been helping push me through is YOU all. Thank you for being here with me and believing in Shea'Bae. Besides focusing on becoming more disciplined so that can pull me through on the days I lack motivation. You, the person reading this has fueled (ME) in ways you cant imagine.
